Ephesians 5, verse 19 urges us ‘Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.’ Let is do that now, as we start our time together by singing the rousing piece ‘Bless the Lord O my soul’.
Hi Junior Church girls & boys, this is a song some of you may already know, but even if you don’t, we hope you’ll enjoy trying it this morning & maybe when we all meet again in church, it will be a new song we’ll be able to sing together.
On this VE bank holiday weekend we’ve remembered, not only the sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom, but also their victory in Europe. Charles Spurgeon wrote, ‘It is pleasant to hear of battles fought where a decisive victory has ended war & established peace.’ He went on to talk about ‘the DOUBLE REFLECTION of all the work of suffering by the Redeemer. . . for great as were His woes, they are all over now & are to be looked back upon with sacred triumph.’ We do that now, as we sing our next song -
What a truly good & gracious King our risen Saviour is!
We bring our time together to a close, as we join in singing ‘Because He lives’.
